DAY 5: Wasting Away

Activity 1: Off the Menu [4 points]

On your blog, tell us what you think about this rule and why you think it!.
$100, 000 for overfishing? Wow that is so much. Today I will be telling you what I think about this rule and is it fair that people are charged up to $100, 000 for overfishing. I think it is very fair to have this rule because if nothing stops this then our marine animals will get endangered. If this will carry on maybe in the future there will be no fish left in this world.

Activity 2: The Black Drain [4 points]

On your blog, tell us:
1) The names of the rivers. 2) The location of the rivers. 3) What is being done to clean up the rivers (if anything).
Today I will be telling you the names of the rivers and the location also I will tell you what has been done to clean up the rivers if anything has been done.
My first river is Waikato river and it is located on the North island and it goes down to Kaimai Ranges and Mt Ruapehu in the South, and from Mokau on the West coast across to the Coromandel Peninsula in the east.
My second river is Hutt River and it is located in Wellington the North Island.
If you want to stop polluting in our rivers please when you are finish with your rubbish put it into the right place which the rubbish bin or recycling bin.

Activity 3: Faded Glory [5 points]

On your blog, list three different ideas or strategies for raising funds to preserve the fundraise here in New Zealand?

My three ideas to fundraise is:

1. Whoever wants to help could save up money in jars or piggy banks and then once they are so full we could give our money to them.

2. We could maybe raise money by having garage sales.

3. Lastly schools in New Zealand could all raise up money and gather it together then send it to help the largest coral leaves.

  1. Malo e lelei Tufui,

Thank you for sharing your opinion, I too think it's fair to get a fine. Overfishing is a serious problem and like you said our marine life is at risk and we could very well not have fish one day. What do you think our oceans/rivers and lakes would be like if that did happen?

You have provided the names and locations of two polluted rivers in Aotearoa. It was a great idea to leave a message about being responsible about litter and recycling. Rubbish does indeed pollute our rivers along with human and animal waste amongst other things.

A friendly reminder; this activity requires you to find out if there is anything actually being done to clean up the rivers. Please edit your post to include this information so that I may award full points for this second activity. :)

You have come up with some good ideas for fundraising, I could see these things working in your local community. Perhaps next time you could include how you would make sure you spread the word about each of these fundraising efforts.

Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing your edited post. :)

    Toe feiloa'i fo'i,

    Cia.
